What began in 1958 as a small agency branching out into a new field of accident insurance for students at school, has grown to be one of the largest and most respected specialists in the "Student Insurance" field, known today as Heritage Insurance Managers, Inc.

For the first three years, the firm's business centered on the selling of accident medical coverage to public, private, and parochial school students in kindergarten through 12th grade. In those days, the bill for a doctor's visit was $5 and a day's stay in the hospital cost about $30. The premium for school insurance for the entire school year was only $1.50.

In the following years, the business expanded to include medical insurance not only for college and public school students, but also for campers, athletic team participants, day care centers and various youth group activities. Heritage became known as the "Youth Insurance Specialists".

Today, Heritage Insurance Managers, Inc. has grown to be a national leader in its field. We work hand in hand with administrators to design customized benefit programs that specifically meet the unique needs of a particular student population. Heritage utilizes sophisticated measures that control costs while providing the utmost in quality medical care, including precertification, concurrent review, provider networks and case management.

Making every effort to provide the policyholder with the highest quality claim service available, we employ a state of the art computerized claim processing system that is designed to complete a claim within 10 days of receipt of all necessary information.

Customer Service representatives are available during regular business hours on our toll free assistance line where inquiries on claim status are answered immediately.

Managed Care - Heritage has realized that a Managed Care plan can offer value to an insurance plan when it balances the interests of each partner in the process: students, administrators, and health care providers. Medical costs can be minimized when the right formula for achieving balance is used.

We have experience in and will help you work through the tough choices associated with Managed Care. We have available national preferred provider groups (PPO's), utilizing solutions including hospital pre-certification, concurrent review, and case management.

That's why Heritage Insurance continues to offer maximum coverage at minimum premiums consistent with sound underwriting principles.

And our policyholders have access to internal information through our Customer Service department. Calls are answered from 8:00 am to 5:15 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday. Representatives have computer access to all claims information and are trained claims payers, enabling them to give full and accurate replies to requests for claims status.

We have developed a customized software program for paying claims, determining eligibility, sending correspondence, and all the other various aspects necessary to efficiently administer millions of dollars of claims annually.
